UNISON Update 11-6-14

Band 4 Role

UNISON met with the trust this morning for discussions around the re-introduction of a band 4 role within A&E operations as mandated at last week’s ECA members meeting.

Unfortunately the Branch Committees position was that the initial caveats that were in the ‘Head of Agreement’, produced by the trust, were completely unpalatable. There was also a lack of clarity surrounding the details of what the Band 4 role would entail. This lack of clarity made it impossible to develop any detailed proposals that we could take back to our members.

It was the decision of the trust to withdraw from talks, however UNISON is still committed to discussions in order to get the best possible deal for our members, and, as such, hope that the trust will re-evaluate its current stance and re-engage with UNISON.

On the 6th of June 2014 Wilson’s solicitors informed the trust of their intent to pursue UNISON’s ‘test case’ by issuing a letter of claim. It is now down to the trust to respond to the claim, we will keep you informed of progress and thank you for your continued patience and support.
