Why?

Strike action is always a difficult and an often emotive subject, especially for staff who are not involved in any action that may take place. I can assure staff that are not involved that industrial action is not a decision that UNISON takes lightly. It is a situation that we as a union would much rather resolve through negotiation. Unfortunately the Trust now refuses to negotiate with us despite our best efforts.

Although you may not be involved in any action that may follow a successful ballot result, I would ask you to still show solidarity and support for those staff who do take the industrial action. If we do not support each other and the action taken fails, I can assure you now, with an absolute certainty, that your own terms and conditions will eventually come into the spotlight and be eroded away, it will be a green light to the trust to come for everything.

We fully understand that any action will put extra pressure on those not involved, from EOC staff to all the support staff that work behind the scenes. Staff that are already under immense pressure and often not given the credit they deserve in the delivery of our service. We want to work to minimise as much as possible this added stress.

We as a Branch will support you in any way we can to make times of increased stress and pressure due to action, easier. If you do have suggestions of how we can work with you to provide support, please do not hesitate to email us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
