PAM Occupational Health Survey results

UNISON has recently conducted a Questionnaire seeking member’s opinions on the YAS PAM Occupational health provider. The responses have provided mixed opinions and have highlighted some areas for improvement.

There were 99 respondents to the survey, 61% would not recommend the PAM Occupational Health service to friends and family with 18% being unhappy with the service provided, however 10% of respondents scored 10/10 in terms of satisfaction.

When asked how the OH service could be improved, the main suggestions were;

· More efficient communication with some respondents suggesting the telephone consultations were ‘impersonal’ with many suggesting a return to ‘in house’ services’

· An apparent lack of communication between departments within PAM, leading to inconsistent information being recorded, difficulty in booking appointments and appointments cancelled without notice.

· A general consensus agreed access to more local appointments would be favourable.

· Faster referral and hands on consultation for physiotherapy rather than telephone consultation and emailed exercises

· An improvement in access for counselling services

Further concerns are noted below;

· Members have reported long delays in waiting for PAM to make contact after referral

· Incorrect recording of sickness on GRS

· Extended sickness absence due to delay in accessing treatment

· Sickness reporting appears to be difficult with staff needing to dual report sick/fit

· Some staff have stated their vaccinations are not up to date

· Poor support and inconsistent treatment for needle stick injury

The survey results are attached and have been shared with the Trust; these will be forwarded to the Employee Wellbeing Group. Whilst many of these issues are in the process of being addressed, the points raised within this survey will assist in identifying areas for improvement.

UNISON would like to thank all members who have participated in this survey. For any further concerns or queries please email UNISON or contact your local representative.
