Operational Redesign Changes

Today the Trust will implement the changes that UNISON members demanded in regards to issues around the Operational Redesign ; these include meal breaks, end of shift overtime and rural area run back procedures.

Over the next few days UNISON will also be starting the ‘area cover’ reviews, as mandated by members due to issues around end of shift overtime, late meal breaks, the removal of the Urgent Tier and RRVs waiting hours on scene. Basically that the rotas where not fit for purpose, in some areas.

This review will cover the whole of Yorkshire starting in the North and East CBU. UNISON is aware of an issue which occurred over the weekend in the York area which members are stating is down to the reduction of cover (especially on nights) and not filling vacant shifts.

UNISON is also mindful that there are over 80 vacancies in the North and East CBU alone, which must be having a negative impact on UNISON members. The review will include, a comparison of the current cover against the cover before the rota changes, the impact of losing the urgent tier, the DCA to RRV ratio and staffing levels.
