Industrial Action Update 12-9-14

Dear Member

UNISON YAS Branch would like to clarify the current situation regarding the industrial action.

UNISON suspended the action due to the Trust reverting back to all policies and agreements within the operational redesign and 5 year workforce plan which fulfilled UNISON members’ mandate.

UNISON has met with the Trust on numerous occasions over the last couple of weeks, often with ACAS present at the talks. UNISON is hoping to have a package to put to members that will both improve members working lives and patient care. UNISON believes there is progress being made but currently the talks have ended with no final proposal. As a result UNISON and the Trust has agreed to meet next Tuesday, it has been made clear to the Trust that time is running out to reach an agreement.

We as a Branch have been made aware of a few episodes where agreed policies have not been applied correctly; The Trust has informed UNISON that they were genuine mistakes and have on each occasion reverted back to the agreed policies as soon as this has been brought to their attention.

We accept that these issues are frustrating for our members, as it is for us as a Branch Committee however we have decided to still commit to final talks with the Trust next week as to withdraw at this late stage would be counterproductive in our aim to get the best possible outcome for our members.
