USE OF “PRIVATE” AMBULANCE PROVIDERS

Over the past few weeks senior members of the Branch Committee have raised concerns around the above issue, these discussions have often become heated.
UNISON formally requested a response from the Trust by the 1st of July in respect of this matter, taking into consideration the strength of feeling expressed by UNISON and its members.
The Trust has responded and has agreed to start reducing the use of private providers immediately by 50% and stop using them completely by the 1st October 2013.
Although UNISON finds the use of “private” providers wholly unpalatable at any time it welcomes the Trust’s commitment to cease using them.
UNISON would like to thank its members for the information sent to the Branch and will be constantly monitoring the situation. We will instigate a massive campaign should the Trust fail to honour their commitment.
